This years cute Christmas kitties: beautiful Cristalline and handsome and naughty Faolán from Cattery Yeri Shaes
Breeding traditional Persians can be a challenge – so a big ‘thank you’ to all the people that have helped me along the way this year – and a special thanks to my dad who is always ready to help build all my ‘cat projects’ – from scratching posts to cat runs.
My dear friend Margaret has written the lovely little Christmas story below.
With this story I want to give my best wishes to everybody for a wonderful Christmas and a New Year full of happiness.
Masu, the little old donkey, stood by himself, alone and rejected. He had known better days, when he was just as fit and healthy as the donkeys in the next pen. Now he was old, slow and no longer loved or cared for. No-one wanted him. Tears welled up in his big brown eyes and slowly trickled down his long soft nose.
The trader who was selling the donkeys, cursed him. "You miserable old bag of bones," he yelled. "You're for the butchers shop." He raised his stick and brought it down hard across Masu's back. He was just about to strike him again, when a strong firm hand grasped his wrist. "Don't hit the donkey I am about to buy," said Joseph. "I shall give you two dinar for him and consider yourself well paid.”
Joseph spoke soothingly to Masu as he led him away. "Do not be afraid, little one, you will never end up at the butchers shop. Instead, honour and dignity will be yours for the rest of your days, for you have been selected from all donkeys to carry God's most wonderful blessing to mankind."
A thrill of excitement and anticipation ran trough Masu. How proud he felt as he walked slowly and carefully towards Bethlehem carrying his precious burden, Mary and her unborn baby.
Joseph looked worried as he gently lifted Mary off Masu's back and helped her to a bed of straw he had prepared in the small stable they had been directed to.
The sky which had looked dark and oppressive through the stable window, suddenly became ablaze with light and a most beautiful star appeared almost above the stable, sending a shaft of light to where Mary lay, cuddling her little new born baby. The light made a golden circle above the baby's head and Masu was sure he noticed the baby smile, as Angels sang "Jesus Christ the Saviour is born this Christmas Day."

Many apologies for late or no answers to e-mails. If I have not answered mails - please if possible send it to me again I probably lost it when my computer exploded (ok, it did not quite explode – but the hard disk behaved as if it did…)

I have a new male cat - Egerton Geovarni - the most beautiful and loving cat imaginable.
Just two hours after arriving he was purring and charming his way right into my heart. I must admit that since he has arrived I have found it difficult to get to the computer to update my website - he is just such a cuddle-bug that I am happy just to sit and scratch his tummy all day.
Geovarni comes all the way from Margaret Peacocke in Australia. Margaret has been breeding Persians under the prefix Egerton since the 1970's. She started with chinchilla Persians and has over the years worked with many different colours. She has created her own bloodline of cameo Persians of which Geovarni is a beautiful example.
Margaret has exclusively bred traditional Persians from the beginning - and that makes her unique among all the Persian breeders in the world. Very few Persian catteries continued throughout the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and into the new millennium with Margaret's dedication and love for the original and authentic Persian cat.
Geovarni is such a loving, gentle and fun cat and I think that this better than anything illustrates the care and dedication Margaret has for her cats.
I am very happy that Margaret has entrusted me with this most wonderful cat. Geovarni just epitomizes everything good and beautiful about the Persian cat.
And the very best thing about Geovarni: He is the worlds biggest cuddle-bug ! He can sleep in my arms for hours - and just purrs away like no other cat I ever had.
